what is wuyi tea

Wu-yi tea is from Mount Wuyi,wu yi shan (In 1999, Mount Wuyi entered UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites, both natural and cultural. ),Fujian,China.

Numerous types of tea are produced around Mount Wuyi, it is the origin of the real Da Hong Pao tea and Lapsang souchong, further described in Wuyi tea (pronounced Woo Yee) . chinese character: 武夷茶.
In China,wuyi tea have a long history,and formed the unique wuyi tea culture .

There are three category wu yi teas, wu yi green tea , wu yi oolong tea(wu long tea)and Wu Yi black tea :

wu yi oolong teas: Wu Yi Jin Mei (also called Wu Yi Golden Eye Brow),Qu Hao ,Xue Ya
wu yi green teas: Da Hong Pao ,Traditional Rou Gui ,Traditional Shui Jin Gui ,Shui Xian (Wang),etc
In Mount Wuyi,around 6% of its total production is green tea ,Oolong is 80% and Black teas made up the rest at 14% .

As other teas,wu yi tea,especialy wu yi oolong tea helps you lose weight.
A recent Japanese and Chinese research shows that daily consumption of Oolong tea is effective in the control of body weight

Does wu-yi tea make you lose weight?.i'm 22 and want to lose weight,is it safe?i mean,it's not Drgs,its just teas.so what do you think about this? - Marie

I'm not sure if this tea works or not, but I do know that it's safe,btw if you drink it instead of drinking sugared drinks , you will cut down your calorie intake , and probably lose weight.- Bee


I am just curious if anyone has tried that Wu Yi tea weight loss and if it really works???

While I have not tried that particular plan, I have found that any generic green tea does help with fat burning. I use the green tea capsules available at Costco. I incorporate that in with my daily regimen of walking between 5 and 8 miles a day and a very healthy raw foods based diet. -A.l

wu yi tea is oolong, but grown on wu yi mountain in fujian province in china. there's nothing special about it except the hype surrounding oprah.just buy somewhere on the internet, look for oolong tea. - Wickie

I am drinking a cup of Wu-Yi tea as I am writing this.I have only been using it for a little over a week and I have lost a bout 4lbs.It tastes great and I'm not a shungry any more.I have tried every thing and nothing has worked.Will let you know what has happened in a month or so. - JS

Wu-long or oolong teas are green tea I read.I would like to try these,but I do not really care for green tea.Is there some way to make it taste better?
I like regular tea,herb teas and decaf tea....but the only time I liked green tea was when I had the flu.For some reason att hat time,it was the only drink I wanted other than water.I could use some help on what to do with this tea. - Kathy
