TEAS FOR ALL AGES December 4, 2000 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I RECENTLY TOOK A DEAR CO-WORKER TO LUNCH AT A WONDERFULLY QUAINT GIFT SHOP/TEA HOUSE WHICH SERVES DELICIOUS TEAS AND SCONES.I HAD A REASON FOR TAKING HER THERE BECAUSE WHILE ENJOYING OUR LUNCH I GAVE MY FRIEND THE BOOK THE TWELVE TEAS OF CHRISTMAS FOR HER CHRISTMAS GIFT. I KNEW SHE WOULD TREASURE THIS BOOK, AS I HAVE, AND HOPED IT WOULD LIFT HER SPIRITS AS SHE HAS BEEN SUFFERING FROM THE EFFECTS OF CHEMOTHERAPY. WHILE TELLING ANOTHER MUCH YOUNGER FRIEND ABOUT THIS DARLING LITTLE BOOK SHE BECAME SO EXCITED AND ASKED IF I WOULD GET HER A COPY SO SHE COULD START A TRADITION WITH HER FRIENDS OF HAVING A TEA PARTY AT CHRISTMAS EACH TEAR. SHE BOUGHT EACH ONE OF HER 6 FRIENDS A COPY OF TWELVE CHRISTMAS TEAS FOR THEIR CHRISTMAS GIFT. SHE WILL GIVE IT TO THEM AT THE FIRST ANNUAL TEA PARTY AT HER HOME USING THE RECIPIES IN THE BOOK. IT'S AMAZING HOW MUCH ONE LITTLE BOOK CAN EFFECT SO MANY PEOPLES LIVES AND GIVE THEM SO MUCH JOY. JUST THINK HOW MANY BOOKS ARE GOING TO BE BOUGHT WHEN THE 6 FRIENDS RECEIVE THEIR COPIES.
Typical Emilie March 24, 2000 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I loved this book. It was very sweet and very helpful in planning parties for the holidays. The recipes are delightful and the references to scripture and old fashioned sayings add an even more personal touch.
Contains recipes/ideas reprinted from her other books January 25, 2000 13 out of 33 found this review helpful
This would have been great if I had never read another book by Emilie Barnes. However, I purchased two of her books at the same time -- and they both contained the same recipes and ideas. Needless to say, I bitterly resent having spent twice the amount to buy two books only to get the content of one repeated twice. Oh, there were a few additions, but none in which I was interested. This is one author I'll never read again.
Wonderful tradition starter! November 9, 1999 29 out of 30 found this review helpful
This is a lovely book, which is rich in tradition. Ever wonder about the Twelve Days of Christmas? Did you know they began with Christmas and ran through the Epiphany in January? This wonderfully illustrated book gives suggestions for celebrations to have on each day, things to do with family and friends, menus and recipes, and much more. I'm buying copies for everyone I love to share tea with.
