Kyoto has been holding the reputation as the birthplace of high quality of tea. The plant is flourishing especially in Uji, which is located on the south in Kyoto, for the reasons: "Rich nature and environment suited to the cultivation" and " Tradition rooted on this area ". Ujinotsuyuseicha Co., Ltd. is an Uji-based manufacture, having the aim at spreading our tradition through tea to all over the world.Matcha has many health benefits. The polyphenols in green tea help to protect against cancer and lower the risk of heart disease by helping to lower cholesterol and improve lipid metabolism. 1 out of 5 stars Not the best -actually awful   November 27, 2008

I made a cup of my usual..using preheated steamed frothed milk, this "maccha" green tea powder and sometimes a little Stevia. YUCK.

I paid $14.99 at an Asian store for this. The Eden $36 a can was much much much better...you can get that $27 or $29 a can in bulk. I've ordered some stuff from Japan..Ryu-Mei. I'll let you know how this works out when it arrives.

I guess if you just want to add powder to regular tea to make yourself feel better about the added health benefits this would be ok. If you hate the green twiggy matcha taste, this is ok.

This is probably ok as ingredient grade. Or if you like iced tea...

This is a sage green powder color ground very fine.
Tastes like ground BROWN tea. YUCK.
Nothing like the "Green" in Eden's Spring matcha.

The tin comes with a bag inside and a preservative (oxygen destroyer pack). You open the bag when you are ready to serve. Then dump the contents in the tin.

To each his own, this is not for me.

5 out of 5 stars Good things come in small packages   October 7, 2008
When I first got this container of Matcha I thought it was a lot to pay for such a small container. Let me tell you..a little bit goes a long way! Matcha green tea is also much more flavourful than brewing tea from a teabag. I have also found many recipes that call for green tea powder and this has worked out well. I would say the price I paid is well worth the wonderful matcha that I purchased.

4 out of 5 stars Yummy   September 9, 2008

I like using this matcha for latte smoothies and so far it has been yummy. Saves me $$$ at the coffee shop, because now I make my own.

4 out of 5 stars I love it.   December 7, 2007

I love this product.
I had a chance to drink green tea latte at Starbucks.
But, Starbucks green tea latte is very expensive.
So, I try to make green tea latte myself and I find out they use Matcha.
Everyday I made my own green tea latte for me and my wife.
She really likes it.
Fortunately, I found same product at local store with price $5.99.

4 out of 5 stars Good Matcha, But There Is Better Out There   June 13, 2007

I noticed a difference between the quality of this matcha and a much more expensive variety. I am currently a matcha neophyte but I noticed that the expensive matcha tasted significantly better, seemed more fresh, and had a better brighter color. I use one heaping teaspoon per pint of hot water, and unfortunately with the more expensive variety it costs over five dollars per pint of matcha tea when you use this much. Even so, if you can afford it, seek out the finer grades of matcha straight from Uji Japan. The Uji region is famous for their fine Gyokuro tea and superior grades of matcha. If you don't have that kind of money, this matcha could suffice, but try to get the Uji-based premium matchas, especially for special occasions. This matcha is listed as being from Uji, but it isn't as good as the more expensive varieties from the same area.
