These rice crackers are AWESOME. My two kids and I eat them like they are going out of style. Including my family. I no longer live near Uwajimaya Asain Market and was very pleased to find that I could buy them online. Shipping prices were a bit outrageous but we order them as a every once in awhile treat. Give them a try you will be hooked! There are many other brands but the Umeya really are the best and always fresh tasting.

I absolutely love kakino tane. They are spicy, crunchy and go better with beer than any snack imaginable. Way better than your typical bar pretzels. A big handful of these to munch on makes me a happy guy.
They are a type of food called arare, which is basically glutinous rice snack flavored with soy sauce and other spices. These are made to resemble persimmon seeds, which is where they get the name kaki (persimmon) no tane (seed of the...) .
They are usually sold with peanuts, but it is great to find a back of just the spicy little crunchers all on their own. Next time you want to knock back a few kirins or asahis, make sure you have a big bag of kakino tane to munch on!

These are crunchy, spicy and great as a snack or an appitizer. These are sure to be a hit at a party, especially if you do an Asian themed party. If not, they go well with a variety of other snacks and can be served alongside chips, dip or pretzels. Definately adds a little spice and variety and goes well with most alcoholic beverages too.
